Winter wheat planted area monitoring and yield modeling using MODIS data in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, China

Accurate and timely crop areas monitoring yield modeling are of great significance for food security sustainability agro-ecosystems. This study provides a rapid robust method planted area winter wheat based on Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data from 2001 to 2016 in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain China. Statistical at prefecture level used accuracy assessment MODIS-derived yield. The results show that overall estimated is 96.5% 2016. Besides, presents an increasing trend Plain, especially 2009 2013. In terms modeling, coefficients determination (R2) between statistical all higher than 0.86, relative errors (RE) <5%. models can accurately estimate yield, with adequate NDVI data, before harvesting dates. has potential be applied other regions.
